Herpes zoster ophthalmicus, herpes simplex ophthalmicus

Mechanism of Action
Inhibits viral DNA polymerase, preventing viral replication.

500 mg, 1000 mg tablets

Dosage/Instructions
HSV: Take 1 1000 mg tablet 3 times daily for 7 days
HZV: Take 1 500 mg tablet 3 times daily for 7 days

Pregnancy & Nursing

Contraindications, side effects, etc.
Contraindications: Allergy to valacyclovir or acyclovir. Common Side Effects: Nausea, stomach pain, headache. Serious side effects can include allergic reactions, kidney problems, and effects on red blood cells like fever, easy bruising or bleeding, pale skin. It may harm the kidneys, especially when used with other medicines that can harm the kidneys. Patients with HIV/AIDS, kidney disease, or those who have had a kidney or bone marrow transplant should use it with caution.
